cultural exchange
In 1981, Edward Martin ventured from Closeburn, Scotland to Albuquerque, NM for the AFA Convention. It was an eye-opening experience to say the least, but more importantly, one in which a new vision was born.
Realizing the great benefit of the free and prolific exchange of information, knowledge, and skills, Mr. Martin proposed the Apprentice Exchange Scheme (now the Cultural Exchange Program). It became a reality in 1982 and has continued since that time, involving nearly 100 British and American farriers. It has benefited countless others who have been host, friend, family, or contemporary of those participants.
